The Township of Georgian Bluffs has been working hard alongside Bruce and Grey Counties, 15 other lower-tier Municipalities, 8 police services, 14 police service boards, 3 boards of education, and more than 30 health and social service agencies and community committees on Community Safety and Well-Being Planning (CSWBP)! The Bruce and Grey CSWBP identified 5 priority areas of risk where partners will work together to make measurable improvements on both regional and local issues. These areas include: Addiction and Substance Use, Mental Health, Crime Prevention, Housing and Homelessness, and Poverty and Income.
The Township of Georgian Bluffs adopted the Community Safety and Well Being Plan at the December 16, 2020 meeting of Council.
The majority of Municipalities of Bruce and Grey have come together with community partners to undertake Community Safety and Well-Being Planning - this process involves the identification of risks across Bruce and Grey related to safety and well-being, and then the creation of a plan to address priority risks, taking a crime prevention approach.
The Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services has been working with multi-sectoral government partners and local community and policing partners to develop the Provincial Approach to Community Safety and Well-Being.
This work began in 2009 with a partnership between the Ministry and the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) – together, these two groups initiated the development of a provincial response to crime and victimization.
This collaboration has culminated in both resources and legislation intended to support all communities across Ontario to develop their own Community Safety and Well-Being Plans.
