All Township Arenas and Community Centres are closed for public use.
Georgian Bluffs has three arenas including: Derby Community Centre located at 137534 Concession 7, Kilsyth; Kemble Arena located at 319897 Kemble Rock Road, Kemble; Shallow Lake Community Centre located at 550 Princess Street, Shallow Lake. The arena at Shallow Lake Community Centre is the only arena in the Township of Georgian Bluffs that maintains an ice surface. Ice times are available from September to March, Public Skating is every Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. ($2.00 per skater). This year we are also offering two new public skating opportunities during weekdays:
The Township of Georgian Bluffs' Community Centres and Arenas are Nut Aware. The Township cannot guarantee the facilities are completely free of nut products, however vendors are no longer selling products containing nuts and facility users are asked not to bring nut products inside. By doing so, we hope to reduce the risk for those with severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis. |
Recreation Master Plan |
Parks, recreation and trails play an important role within the Township of Georgian Bluffs and help shape the lives of our communities. To provide direction for these important community assets over the next ten years, the Township of Georgian Bluffs is preparing a Recreation and Trails Master Plan. This is the first document of its kind since amalgamation and will engage residents across Georgian Bluffs to help Council and Staff identify community needs along with ways to provide facilities and services in a cost-effective manner. The Master Plan is being prepared by Monteith Brown Planning Consultants who have over 40 years of experience in the parks, recreation and trails sector. Monteith Brown has developed similar master plans and studies across Ontario, and specifically in Grey-Bruce communities such as South Bruce Peninsula, North Bruce Peninsula, Saugeen Shores, The Blue Mountains and Owen Sound. To view an electronic copy of the Master Plan, click here.
The initial Draft Recreation and Trails Master Plan was presented to Council at their February 19, 2020 Council meeting. A public open house were held on March 12, 2020 at Shallow Lake Arena for he public to view and discuss. Moneith Brown Planning Consultants presented their second presentation to Council on July 9, 2020 as an overview of the process and items to consider. The plan was adopted at the December 16, 2020 meeting of Council. |
