Garbage, Recycling and Waste

Do your part to help Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. As a community, we are responsible for helping reduce our impact on our planet, by limiting and reducing the waste we generate. The Township is here to help.

Reduce - The easiest way of lessening our waste is to reduce the things that become garbage. Avoid buying packaging you do not need, try to not buy disposable items and goods, and only buy what you will be able to use.

Reuse - If we must buy something, try to reuse it as much as possible. Reuse carrier bags, repurpose old clothes as rags, or reuse glass jars.

Recycle - When we have finished with something, try to recycle it wherever possible. Clothes and household items can be taken to stores such as Value Village (or other thrift stores) or donated to other charities, organic waste can be composted, and plastic, glass and metal can be recycled.

Remember, any waste that is not recycled must go to landfill sites to be buried. Not only is this costly to do, but the environmental costs of transporting garbage large distances to burial sites has a high environmental impact, and leaving waste buried has a lasting legacy on our planet.
