Georgian Bluffs marked an exciting milestone this afternoon with a ribbon cutting at Sarawak Family Park, celebrating the addition of several new features that make it more accessible and sustainable. Local officials and community gathered for the event, which highlighted Georgian Bluffs’ ongoing commitment to investing in community spaces.
The upgrades include the installation of the first-ever electric vehicle (EV) charging station on Georgian Bluffs’ property, provided by FLO. This is a significant step toward supporting sustainable transportation options in Georgian Bluffs, with more EV charging stations planned at other Township locations in the coming months.
“The new amenities, at Sarawak Family Park reflect our commitment to creating spaces that are sustainable, inclusive, and welcoming for everyone,” said Mayor Sue Carleton. “We’re continuing to invest in our parks to ensure they remain a vibrant part of life in Georgian Bluffs where families can gather, enjoy the outdoors, and connect with nature.”
CAO Niall Lobley echoed the Mayor’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of this project for the Township’s long-term goals. “The installation of the EV charging station is a key part of our strategy to support sustainable infrastructure. It’s just the first of many steps we’re taking to make Georgian Bluffs more eco-friendly, and we’re excited to see this project expand in the near future.”
In addition to the EV charger, the park now hosts a new kayak rack and a mobi-mat accessible walkway, with additional trees planted making it a more welcoming and usable space for all visitors. These improvements build on earlier enhancements to the park’s washroom facilities, which were generously funded by the Scenic City Order of Good Cheer.
Georgian Bluffs extends our thanks to staff, community partners, and residents for their support in making these upgrades possible.
