Public Works Week, celebrated from May 19 to 25, 2024, recognizes and celebrates the important services our public works team provide each and everyday. In the Township of Georgian Bluffs our dedicated staff provide services including keeping roads safe to travel throughout the year, managing parks, public spaces and tree canopy and ensuring facilities are available for community use.
“Public works staff are at the frontlines of municipal service delivery, working and on-call throughout the day, everyday of the year,” says, CAO Niall Lobley. Adding, “they keep communities moving, growing and thriving.”
Georgian Bluffs maintains 438 kilometers of roadway, from winter snow plowing operations to pothole repair. In 2023, 12+km of roadside brushing was completed, 18 locations of drainage projects and more than 200 signs were installed and replaced. The GB Public Works team also contributed to 775 events and activities hosted at our community centres and arenas. The ice at Shallow Lake Community Centre is flooded approximately 2,100 times each season! In the warmer months, the team cuts approximately 30 acres of grass at 27 Township properties every week.
The Township’s public works professionals deliver critical services and bring incredible value to our community. Our Township would not be able to operate without this group of individuals.
“This week, as we recognize the dedicated team at Georgian Bluffs and across Grey County, please join me in saying thank you to the team that help shape the Township,” says, CAO Lobley.
