Oxenden Cemetery Gets Its First Columbarium

The Township of Georgian Bluffs is pleased to announce that a columbarium has been installed at Oxenden Cemetery, providing more eternal resting spaces in our scenic and peaceful community.

Oxenden Cemetery, located in the village of Oxenden on Georgian Bay, is renowned for its beautiful views and tranquil atmosphere. This is the first columbarium to be installed at Oxenden Cemetery and introduces an alternative to in-ground cremation interments.

The new columbarium, a 48-niche unit crafted from 100% Canadian-sourced granite, was quarried and manufactured in Ontario. Each niche can accommodate two cremation urns, providing families with a durable and elegant option for their loved ones to be at peace.

This is the second columbarium installed in Township-operated cemeteries. A similar unit is in place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery and has since sold out. Installation of a second columbarium at Mount Pleasant was approved in the 2024 budget.
