Mayor Sue Carleton |
It is my honour and privilege to be elected as Mayor of Georgian Bluffs for the 2022 – 2026 term. Thank you to all who voted for me and made this happen. This is my third term on council, I was first elected in 2014 as a councillor, then acclaimed in 2018 as Deputy Mayor and now in 2022 I am proud to be able to serve as your Mayor. My late husband and I moved to the former Keppel Township from Owen Sound in 1981, and raised our three children here on property that had been in his family for over 40 years. I am proud to be a resident of Georgian Bluffs – I believe we live in a beautiful area of an amazing county, province and country. Thank you to all of the residents who voted in this recent election, and those who took the time to attend the three All Candidate Meetings. Thank you for exercising your right to vote, no matter who you voted for. Taking the time to express your thoughts and opinions is essential to the democratic process. This term of council will have some difficult issues to face, including our water systems, the future of the BioDigester, the Recreation and Trails Master Plan, and facility and park maintenance. The Official Plan for the township needs to be updated, and within that plan we need to consider the future of short-term accommodations. We need to collaborate with our residents, our neighbouring municipalities, and upper levels of government to find solutions that work for Georgian Bluffs and accomplish as much as we can with the least amount of tax dollars. Georgian Bluffs’ hamlets and villages have a rich culture and history, and it is my dream to tell those stories online and through signage to preserve our heritage for future generations. I look forward to hearing from you, the residents, with your thoughts and dreams as well. Together, we will work to continue to make Georgian Bluffs the greatest place to live. “Come for the views and stay for a lifetime.” I look forward to being your Mayor, and working with council and staff, together we will make a great team. I also look forward to hearing from you our residents, so please reach out to me or any member of council or staff with your concerns, thoughts, and ideas. |
Deputy Mayor Grant Pringle |
First, I would like to say thanks to the voters of Georgian Bluffs, for giving me the opportunity to represent you, the taxpayer!! This is an honor, and a responsibility that I do not take lightly. Lorenda and I have lived in of Grey County all our lives, and been residents of Georgian Bluffs for the past 32 years, where we have raised our twin boys, Mitchell and Mackenzie now 22 years old. Growing up on a family farm, previous experience working for major corporations and now self employed, I feel that I can bring different and new perspective to present and upcoming issues. Georgian Bluffs is such a beautiful township, with a little bit of everything for everybody. For me the future needs to be moving forward in a positive manner, with proper development, and fiscal responsibility to you the taxpayer. Please don’t hesitate to contact me, and I look forward to meeting you, to discuss the issues. |
Councillor Cathy Moore Coburn |
I am honoured to serve the residents of Georgian Bluffs again for the 2022-2026 term of council. My priorities are sound stewardship, accountability, integrity, and transparency. I remain committed to listening to our residents and acting on the priorities that benefit our municipality. For the first two years of this term, I represent council and residents as a member of the Committee of Adjustment and an alternate for County Council and the Bruce Peninsula District Veterinary Committee. I also sit on the Community Improvement Plan Steering Committee. I will remain actively engaged in future Climate Action Planning and the work involved in moving our Recreation and Trails Master Plan forward. If you have any questions or comments, please contact me. |
Councillor Ryan Thompson |
It has been my profound pleasure to have been a Councillor in Georgian Bluffs for the past 5 terms of office (since 2004). I have lived in Georgian Bluffs for all of my adult life and I feel very fortunate to be raising my children here. Georgian Bluffs is an amalgamation of a number of distinct rural communities. Each community boasts a rich heritage and unique features that adds to the natural beauty and charm that makes us proud to call it home. Ratepayers deserve good governance and transparent leadership from Council members. I pride myself on being a critical thinker that uses evidence based decision making skills, and relies upon collaboration with others and consideration of all perspectives in every matter that comes before Council. I believe that the input of every ratepayer in Georgian Bluffs is valuable and I encourage communication with all ratepayers. I look forward to meeting any ratepayer who has a desire to discuss any topic of municipal concern. |
