It is my honour and privilege to be elected as Mayor of Georgian Bluffs for the 2022 – 2026 term. Thank you to all who voted for me and made this happen. This is my third term on council, I was first elected in 2014 as a councillor, then acclaimed in 2018 as Deputy Mayor and now in 2022 I am proud to be able to serve as your Mayor. My late husband and I moved to the former Keppel Township from Owen Sound in 1981, and raised our three children here on property that had been in his family for over 40 years. I am proud to be a resident of Georgian Bluffs – I believe we live in a beautiful area of an amazing county, province and country.
Thank you to all of the residents who voted in this recent election, and those who took the time to attend the three All Candidate Meetings. Thank you for exercising your right to vote, no matter who you voted for. Taking the time to express your thoughts and opinions is essential to the democratic process.
This term of council will have some difficult issues to face, including our water systems, the future of the BioDigester, the Recreation and Trails Master Plan, and facility and park maintenance. The Official Plan for the township needs to be updated, and within that plan we need to consider the future of short-term accommodations. We need to collaborate with our residents, our neighbouring municipalities, and upper levels of government to find solutions that work for Georgian Bluffs and accomplish as much as we can with the least amount of tax dollars.
Georgian Bluffs’ hamlets and villages have a rich culture and history, and it is my dream to tell those stories online and through signage to preserve our heritage for future generations. I look forward to hearing from you, the residents, with your thoughts and dreams as well. Together, we will work to continue to make Georgian Bluffs the greatest place to live.
“Come for the views and stay for a lifetime.”
I look forward to being your Mayor, and working with council and staff, together we will make a great team. I also look forward to hearing from you our residents, so please reach out to me or any member of council or staff with your concerns, thoughts, and ideas.
