Climate Action Plan

The Township of Georgian Bluffs has adopted a Corporate Climate Action Plan (CorCAP) to guide how the municipality will reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and adapt to the impacts of a changing climate.

Dark Sky Preservation

Georgian Bluffs is home to stunning natural landscapes, from Georgian Bay’s shoreline to the heights of the Niagara Escarpment. As part of our commitment to protecting these natural assets, we are exploring ways to preserve our dark skies.

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

As part of our commitment to sustainability and climate action, the Township of Georgian Bluffs is rolling out a growing network of public Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations across the community.

Energy Conservation

Georgian Bluffs has developed this Energy Conservation and Demand Management (ECDM) Plan to help reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, lower energy use, and protect the environment we all value.

Garbage, Recycling and Waste

The Township contracts Waste Management to provide a curbside collection service for common household waste that cannot be recycled.

Invasive species are a significant threat to ecosystems, biodiversity, and human activities in Ontario and beyond.

Noxious Weeds

Noxious weeds are harmful plants that threaten personal safety, disrupt ecosystems, and negatively impact agriculture. In Ontario, 25 weeds are designated as noxious.

Pollinators

Pollinators are bees, butterflies, moths, wasps, flies, hummingbirds, and even bats that help fertilize plants by transferring pollen between flowers. They play a crucial role in Food production, Biodiversity, Agriculture, and the local economy.

Repair Café

Breathe new life into your belongings! The Georgian Bluffs Climate Action Team (GBCAT), driven by passionate local volunteers, has started a Repair Café, hosted at the Library in Owen Sound.

#TrashTagGB Community Clean-up

From April 22 – May 13, 2025, join us in celebrating Earth Day and Ontario’s Day of Action on Litter by taking part in the #TrashtagGB Community Litter Cleanup!

Turtle Stewardship

Turtles play an important role in our local ecosystems, but they face many challenges. From habitat loss to road dangers, these slow-moving reptiles need our help to survive and thrive.
