Mayor’s Statement: In Sympathy With the Walkerton Community

On behalf of Council and the Township of Georgian Bluffs, I extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and the entire Walkerton community following the heartbreaking loss of four students and a teacher from Walkerton District Community School.

Our thoughts are with those who are grieving the loss of loved ones, and with the many students, staff, and community members impacted by this unimaginable tragedy.

As a community, we mourn alongside you. We recognize that our communities are connected across Grey and Bruce counties, and in times like this, we stand together in support, compassion, and solidarity.

We are also thinking of the first responders, school staff, and everyone offering comfort and care in the wake of this devastating incident. Your strength and dedication are deeply appreciated.

May the memories of these young lives and their teacher live on through the lives they touched and the community that loved them.
