The Inter Township Fire Department is reminding all residents to take extra precautions as an Air Quality Advisory remains in effect for our area. The Inter Township Fire Department is asking residents to avoid outdoor burning whenever possible until conditions improve. Reducing unnecessary burning helps improve air quality and lowers the risk of accidental wildland fires.

An Orange Warning for southwestern Ontario has been issued by Environment Canada due to very poor air quality caused by smoke from wildfires in northwestern Ontario. Georgian Bluffs has opened two air quality relief centres in response to the warning: Shallow Lake Community Centre and Council Chambers at the Township Office. 

A Flood Watch has been issued by the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority (GSCA), impacting the watersheds in Georgian Bluffs and surrounding areas following significant rainfall across the region.

Please be advised that West Street is closed from Grey Road 17B to Vault Works Road until further notice due to a washout and sinkhole.

Georgian Bluffs is reminding drivers to use caution on local roads as spring thaw and recent precipitation has lead to water pooling on roadways and soft road conditions.

Waste Management was not able to complete the scheduled pickup in parts of the Township on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

Weight restrictions of 5 tonne per axle will be implemented on Township roads in Georgian Bluffs starting Sunday, March 1, 2026, for the spring season.

As spring weather approaches, Georgian Bluffs is preparing for potential challenges related to the melting snow. The high snowpack this season has resulted in drainage ditches and culverts becoming blocked in some areas, and if we experience rapid melting, particularly in combination with spring rainfall, localized flooding may occur.

The Township of Georgian Bluffs has declared a significant weather event due to forecasted and/or observed weather conditions.
