Notice of Public Meeting: Proposed New Official Plan for Township of Georgian Bluffs

In accordance with Section 17 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.P.13, as amended:

Take Notice that the Council of the Township of Georgian Bluffs will hold a public meeting on May 6, 2026 at 5pm in Council Chambers to consider the adoption of a New Official Plan under Section 17 of the Planning Act.

The purpose of the public meeting is to provide the public with the opportunity to provide comments to Council on the proposed New Official Plan and for Council to discuss the revisions to the Official Plan that may be required. Council will consider public feedback prior to adopting the New Official Plan.

All interested parties are invited to participate in the public meeting:

PURPOSE AND EFFECT

The Official Plan is representative of Council’s vision for the Township of Georgian Bluffs and contains the goals, objectives, and policies intended to guide land use development and growth in the Township over a 25-year planning horizon, including to manage and direct physical development within the context of social, economic, built, and natural environmental matters in the Township.

The Planning Act requires that an Official Plan be updated to ensure it conforms with provincial plans, or does not conflict with them, has regard to matters of provincial interest, and is consistent with provincial policy statements issued under the Act. The Township’s Official Plan must also conform with the County of Grey Official Plan.

The existing Official Plan was approved by Township Council on August 8, 2012. Taking into account the timing of the 10-year review, the introduction of the 2024 Provincial Planning Statement, amendments to the Planning Act, and adoption of the new County of Grey Official Plan (2018), the Township initiated a comprehensive update to its Official Plan. This update has culminated in the creation of a New Official Plan document intended to replace the existing Official Plan.

Oral Comments: If you wish to appear electronically to speak to this matter, you must contact the Clerk by April 29, 2026 at clerks@georgianbluffs.ca or 519-376-2729 ext. 602 to be registered to participate in the public meeting.

Written Comments: If you wish to provide written comments at the public meeting, comments must be addressed to the Clerk and received by April 22, 2026. Comments may be mailed or emailed. All written comments received prior to any approval will be considered.

Any person may attend the public meeting and make oral and/or written submissions either in support of or in opposition to the proposed official plan amendment. All submissions will form part of the public record.

PUBLIC RECORD

Under the authority of the Municipal Act, 2001 and in accordance with Ontario's Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), all information provided for, or at a Public Meeting, Public Consultation, or other

Public Process are considered part of the public record, including resident deputations. This information may be posted on the Township’s website and/or made available to the public upon request.

APPEAL RIGHTS

If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of The Corporation of the Township of Georgian Bluffs to the Ontario Land Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to The Corporation of the Township of Georgian Bluffs before the proposed official plan amendment is adopted, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting, or make written submissions to The Corporation of the Township of Georgian Bluffs before the proposed official plan amendment is adopted, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
