PUBLIC NOTICE: Water Main Flushing

East Linton, Shallow Lake and Oxenden Water Distribution Systems

As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and reliable water supply, the Ontario Clean Water Agency will be conducting annual fire hydrant flushing and testing from October 15, 2025 to November 30, 2025.

This work is part of the best practices of a comprehensive water management program. During normal use, water moves slowly through the distribution system, which can lead to the accumulation of naturally occurring sediment in the pipes. Flushing hydrants increases water velocity through the mains, helping to remove sediment and maintain consistent water quality.

Please be advised:

  • You may experience lower than normal water pressure and temporary water discoloration during this period.
  • If discoloration occurs:
    • Run cold water in all faucets for 4–5 minutes or until the water runs clear.
    • Do NOT use hot water until cold water runs clear.
    • Avoid doing laundry until water clarity is restored to prevent staining.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we carry out this important maintenance work.
