Ryan Thompson Appointed Chief Administrative Officer of Georgian Bluffs

Council of the Township of Georgian Bluffs is pleased to announce the appointment of Ryan Thompson as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), effective October 6, 2025.

Mr. Thompson brings over 25 years of public-sector experience to the role, including leadership positions in child and family services and more than two decades on Georgian Bluffs Council. He stepped back from his Council seat earlier this year to participate as an applicant in the CAO recruitment process, and officially resigned from Council on September 5 in order to take on this new position. A report will be brought forward to Council in the near future to outline options for filling the vacancy.

“Ryan’s extensive experience, collaborative approach, and deep roots in our community make him well-suited to lead our organization,” said Mayor Sue Carleton. “We’re excited to begin this next chapter with him at the helm.”

With more than 20 years of professional experience in the human services field, Mr. Thompson most recently served as Director of Service at Bruce Grey Child and Family Services. He also has an extensive background in municipal governance, having served five full terms as a member of municipal Council.

Mr. Thompson brings a strong blend of academic achievement, leadership, and municipal experience to the role. With university degrees in Sociology and Public Administration, a Master’s Degree in Social Work, and Public Sector Executive Leadership Certification from the Rotman School of Business, he offers both a broad and deep understanding of public service and organizational leadership.
