Celebrate Georgian Bluffs 25th Anniversary with a Community Barbecue & Movie Night

Georgian Bluffs is celebrating our 25^th Anniversary of the Amalgamation of Keppel, Sarawak, and Derby Townships in 2001. We invite you to join us for a Community Barbecue and Movie Night on June 6, 2026, at Shallow Lake Arena, starting at 6:00 p.m.

The event will kick-off with a community barbecue complete with hotdogs and hamburgers sourced from a local beef farmer. Potato salad and Caesar salad will also be served from Heat N’ Eat of Shallow Lake. For dessert, we will have ice cream from Licky Lou’s at Springmount’s Elsie’s Diner. The Hepworth Home and School Association will be onsite accepting pay-what-you-can donations for their mission to install a playground at the Hepworth Community School. Donations are encouraged, but food will be available for free. After sharing a community meal together, we will enjoy a hearing from local dignitaries, followed by a slideshow of historical community photos. You are encouraged to dig up your favourite photos taken around Georgian Bluffs and submit them for the community photo slideshow.  Whether it’s old baseball teams, or family farms, all photos will be considered for the nostalgic photo series. Submissions for the slideshow are accepted via the Township of Georgian Bluffs website at www.georgianbluffs.ca/25.

As part of the 25^th Anniversary celebrations, the Township will also unveil a community art initiative, where barn quilts will be installed at various locations and facilities around Georgian Bluffs. The Shallow Lake & District Community Centre barn quilt will be the first in the series, available for residents to view on the evening of the Community Barbecue. In the spirit of unity, the Township invites community members and organizations to participate in this initiative by volunteering to help paint the various Barn Quilts. Finally, the night will wrap up with an outdoor movie night reminiscent of the old Drive-in Theatre, showing of a family-friendly film released the same year Georgian Bluffs was formed in 2001. Any guesses as to which one it is?
