Georgian Bluffs Raising Flags in Celebration of Pride Month

Georgian Bluffs is once again recognizing the start of Pride Month by raising the Progressive Pride Flag at municipal facilities throughout the community.

Pride Month is an opportunity to celebrate the contributions, experiences, and diversity of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals while reaffirming our commitment to creating communities where everyone feels welcome, respected, and included.

“Georgian Bluffs is a community that values belonging,” said Mayor Sue Carleton. “We are committed to fostering an inclusive community where people of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences feel respected and supported. Raising the Progressive Pride Flag is one way we demonstrate that commitment and celebrate the diversity that strengthens our community.”

The Township's Strategic Plan identifies Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging as a key lens through which decisions are made and services are delivered. Flying the Progressive Pride Flag reflects the Township's ongoing commitment to creating a welcoming environment for residents, visitors, staff, and community partners.

“Pride Month is both a celebration and a reminder that building inclusive communities requires ongoing effort,” said Ryan Thompson, Chief Administrative Officer. “The Progressive Pride Flag represents the belief that everyone deserves to feel safe, valued, and able to participate fully in community life. We are proud to recognize Pride Month and celebrate alongside our 2SLGBTQIA+ residents, families, friends, and neighbours.”

You can find the Progressive Pride Flags at the Township Office, Shallow Lake Arena, and the Kemble Women's Institute Lookout throughout the month of June.

The Township of Georgian Bluffs wishes everyone a safe, joyful, and happy Pride Month.
