Nominations Now Open for 2026 Municipal Election in Georgian Bluffs

Nominations for the 2026 Municipal Election are now officially open in Georgian Bluffs.

Those interested in serving their community as a member of Council can file their nomination as of Friday, May 1. Nominations will be accepted until Friday, August 21, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.

Nomination forms must be filed in person with Election Officials at the Township Administration Building during regular office hours. A Candidate Information Package, which includes all required forms and resources, is available for pick-up at the Administration Building or can be printed from the Township’s website at georgianbluffs.ca/candidateportal. All candidates are recommended to book an appointment with the Clerk’s office in advance to ensure staff availability.

To run as a candidate in Georgian Bluffs, you must be:

·       A Canadian citizen;

·       At least 18 years old;

·       Qualified to vote in the municipality by:

o   Living in the municipality, or

o   Owning or renting property in the municipality, or

o   Being the spouse of someone who owns or rents property in the municipality; and

·       Not prohibited from holding municipal office under any Act.

A filing fee of $200 for the office of Mayor or $100 for all other offices is required at the time of nomination. Information about candidate qualifications and required nomination documents is available in the Candidate Information Package.

The 2026 Municipal Election will take place on Monday, October 26, 2026, with voting conducted by internet and telephone.
