Notice: Flood Watch Issued for Georgian Bluffs and Surrounding Area
A Flood Watch has been issued by the Grey Sauble Conservation Authority (GSCA), impacting the watersheds in Georgian Bluffs and surrounding areas following significant rainfall across the region.
Over the past 72 hours, between 75 and 120 mm of rain has fallen, with an additional 20–25 mm overnight. Water levels in local rivers, streams, and smaller watercourses are rising and are expected to exceed normal spring runoff levels.
Flooding is already occurring in some low-lying areas, causing road closures which can be found at Municipal 511. Please report flooding on roads or other public property through Contact GB.
Increased water levels have also been reported in:
- Hepworth Creek / Spring Creek – Hepworth Area
- Parkhead Creek – Shallow Lake Area
Areas of Shallow Lake near Parkhead Creek are particularly at risk. Please monitor conditions closely if you live in a flood-prone area. Check water flow around your property and in your basement (e.g., sump pumps, drains, and culverts) to ensure everything is working properly and water is being redirected appropriately.
Fast-moving water and unstable banks have also created dangerous conditions near waterways. We ask that everyone avoid rivers, streams, and flooded areas, and do not drive through flooded roads.
GSCA will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed. This Flood Watch is in effect until April 17, 2026 at 4:00 p.m., unless updated.
