Unused Garbage Bag Tag Refunds Available Beginning July 2

Georgian Bluffs residents with unused garbage bag tags will be eligible for refunds beginning July 2, 2026, following Council approval of a bag tag refund program.

The refund program comes as the Township transitions to its new cart-based waste collection system, which begins July 6, 2026. Under the new system, residents will no longer require bag tags for household garbage collection.

Refunds will be available from July 2 to September 30, 2026, for unused bag tags that are in good condition and match the current Township design. Residents will receive the current purchase price of $2.25 per tag.

Cash refunds will be provided for returns of between four and 20 bag tags. Residents returning 21 or more bag tags will receive their refund by cheque.
