You can also consider applying for a Land Use Inquiry with our planning staff for a $150 fee. This form provides feedback from planning staff regarding permitted uses and potential development opportunities or constraints.

The Planning Division provides Planning and Building Compliance Letters upon request. These letters are commonly requested by property owners, prospective purchasers, financial institutions, and solicitors who require information regarding the planning and building status of a property.

A compliance letter may include information such as:

• The property's zoning and applicable zoning standards;
• Whether existing buildings or structures appear to comply with the Township's Zoning By-law based on available records should a site plan be provided;
• Information regarding planning approvals, where applicable;
• Building permit records and permit status, where available;
• Outstanding Orders or known compliance matters on file; and
• Other planning and building-related information relevant to the property.

Please note that compliance letters are prepared based on the records available to the Township at the time of the request and should not be interpreted as a legal survey or guarantee of compliance.

Requesting a Compliance Letter

To request a compliance letter, please complete the Compliance Request Form and submit the completed form together with the applicable fee to the address indicated on the form.

Processing Time

To ensure sufficient time for staff review, records research, and preparation of the letter, the Planning Division requires a minimum of five (5) business days' notice prior to the closing date. Requests received with less than five business days' notice may not be completed in time for closing.

Applicants are encouraged to submit their requests as early as possible to avoid delays.
