Telecommunication Towers
Telecommunication tower requests are federally managed, but the Township can provide comments for consideration.
Telecommunication towers built by service providers are regulated by the federal government’s Radiocommunication Act. All final decisions about the location and construction of a tower are made by the federal government agency Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) Canada.
In some cases, the Township of Georgian Bluffs can provide comments to ISED Canada for consideration. In those cases, service providers should review the Townships Telecommunication Antenna or Tower Siting Protocol and follow the steps below to request a preliminary meeting.
Request a Pre-consultation Review
Submit a pre-consultation request in Cloud Permit, which includes uploading your drawings and documents.
When we receive your pre-application request, we’ll review the drawings and documents you’ve submitted, and tell you what additional information is required or any changes that should be made. All feedback will also be available for you to view in Cloud Permit.

You must submit the following drawings and documents with your pre-application meeting request:
- Cover letter describing the tower or antenna system, including height and dimensions
- Site plan or survey plan

Submit a Telecommunication Tower Request
When you’re ready to submit your telecommunication tower request, log into Cloud Permit and follow the steps to create a pre-consultation request.
The full list of documents required is provided in the Submission Requirements Checklist from your initial pre-application review meeting with the Township. You can find detailed information about these documents in the Telecommunication Antenna or Tower Siting Protocol.
